The Invisible Man
This photographic project stems from the desire to explore and shed light on the various realities experienced by homeless individuals. Behind this situation, often perceived homogeneously, lie diverse and complex stories that deserve to be told and understood.
In wealthy societies, where economic progress coexists with growing inequalities, the phenomenon of homelessness reflects both structural and personal tensions. Factors such as the housing crisis, rising rents, precarious jobs, and economic disparity have led many to lose their homes. Additionally, the lack of family or community support networks and insufficient public policies exacerbate this condition.
We cannot ignore the more personal dimensions of this reality. Many face mental health issues or addictions that hinder their reintegration. Others have been struck by unexpected crises, such as job loss or a medical emergency, that pushed them to their limits. And, in a less known but equally important perspective, there are also those who choose this way of life, whether as an act of rebellion, a philosophy of life, or a conscious detachment from a society they do not feel part of.
Through these images, I aim to capture not only the material circumstances of those living without a roof but also the emotions, gestures, and stories that define their lives. This work does not seek to provide definitive answers or pass judgment but rather to open a window into a reality that, while it may seem foreign to us, is part of the fabric of our cities.
I hope these photographs invite reflection and empathy, reminding us that behind every face lies a story worth hearing.
