IN ITINERE

790 km is the distance that is marked in Roncesvalles to get to Santiago de Compostela. Pilgrims who travel by foot take a month to travel, some a little less and others a little more.

In this series of double portraits we see the faces of two pilgrims, on the left as they leave Roncesvalles and on their way to Santiago de Compostela.

IN ITINERE

In the context of the IN ITINERE project, I have made the choice to adopt a particular perspective in approaching the photography of pilgrims. Inspired by the motu of the writer Giovanni Verga, where he postulates that a work of art should appear to be made by itself, I have sought to dispense as far as possible with playing an active role as a creator in the traditional sense of intervening in the taking of photographs.

In this exhibition, the photographs presented seek to convey the mark, the footprint left by the Camino, inviting the viewer to immerse themselves in its world and reflect on the individual stories that are intertwined in this journey. Each image is a window to moments of introspection, devotion, joy or fatigue, captured with authenticity and without artificial pretensions.
