The Sahrawi refugee camps, 1998 – 2024

This project revisits photographs taken in the Sahrawi refugee camps near Tindouf in 1998.
Over time, the original slides have decayed — fungi, dust, and humidity have left visible marks on the images.
Their physical deterioration mirrors the long, forgotten exile of thousands of Sahrawi people still waiting in the Algerian desert, fifty years after the Green March and Spain’s withdrawal from Western Sahara.
